As we approach the 30th anniversary of touring the Windrush play STREETS PAVED WITH GOLD, I am thrilled to announce a special tour titled “Milestone: Celebrating 30 Years of Windrush Storytelling and Community Engagements.” This event will honour three decades of sharing Windrush narratives through plays, poetry, workshops, motivational talks, and film and documentary showings.
This milestone is not just a celebration of my work but a tribute to the rich heritage and vibrant stories of the Windrush generation and their enduring legacy impacting our community. It’s a time to reflect on our shared history and to celebrate the contributions and resilience of the Windrush generation.
I am excited to invite community organizations across the country, our Elders Day centres, churches, schools, colleges, universities, and individuals to join us in this momentous event. There are various ways you can be involved:
- Hosting a performance or workshop
- Participating in or organising community discussions and talks
- Sharing resources or space for film showings
- Promoting the events within your network
- Collaborating on artistic and educational initiatives
Your involvement would greatly enhance the reach and impact of this celebration, fostering a deeper connection within our community and honoring the legacy of the Windrush generation.
